Some Christian Judaizers claim that we modern Christians are bound by the same laws as the Jews of the Old Testament period. Thus they try to take from us the liberty that we have in Christ. However, we are not Old Testament Jews. We are New Testament Christians. Furthermore, even during the Old Testament period, the Books of Exodus, Leviticus and Numbers make it very clear that the laws of the Jews only applied to foreigners who sojourned and lived among them at that time in Biblical history. "One law shall be to him that is homeborn, and unto the stranger THAT SOJOURNETH AMONG YOU."
Exodus 12:49, KJV
"And this shall be a statute for ever unto you: that in the seventh month, on the tenth day of the month, ye shall afflict your souls, and do no work at all, whether it be one of your own country, or a stranger THAT SOJOURNETH AMONG YOU:"
Leviticus 16:29, KJV
"Ye shall therefore keep my statutes and my judgments, and shall not commit any of these abominations; neither any of your own nation, nor any stranger THAT SOJOURNETH AMONG YOU:"
Leviticus 18:26, KJV
"One ordinance shall be both for you of the congregation, and also for the stranger that sojourneth with you, an ordinance for ever in your generations: as ye are, so shall the stranger be before the LORD. One law and one manner shall be for you, and for the stranger THAT SOJOURNETH WITH YOU . . . Ye shall have one law for him that sinneth through ignorance, both for him that is born among the children of Israel, and for the stranger THAT SOJOURNETH AMONG THEM."
Numbers 15:15-16, 29, KJV
