EXPLANATION: On the island of Guam, "pari pari" is the local Chamorro phrase which signifies political nepotism, or a GovGuam employee who hires other family members or close friends as a favor to them. The phrase "pari pari" is derived from the Chamorro word "kumpaire" which refers to a grandfather. In turn, "kumpaire" is derived from the Spanish word "compadre" which means the same thing.
