At the same time, the Apostle John warned the brethren to beware of false prophets who are not of the Lord:

“Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world.”
1 John 4:1, KJV

The Apostle Paul also wrote the following verse which has been the subject of much debate:

“Charity never faileth: but whether there be prophecies, they shall fail; whether there be tongues, they shall cease; whether there be knowledge, it shall vanish away. For we know in part, and we prophesy in part. But when that which is perfect is come, then that which is in part shall be done away.”
1 Corinthians 13:8-10, KJV
