Dear Friends,

The strange poem you are about to read is based on a real dream which I had in September of 2014.

I had already gone to bed, and hoped that I would sleep for the night. However, a short while later, I woke up with some vivid thoughts and images still in my mind, from a dream I had just had.

I normally do not remember my dreams. However, the fact that I remembered portions of this one, suggested to me that it might have some importance. So, I immediately got out of bed, sat in my computer chair, and began to write the following poem, in which I describe what I remember from the short dream.

After completing the poem, I felt that to do the subject justice, rather than make my customary 500 x 400 pixel graphic, I should design one of my 1280 x 960 pixel “super graphics” instead.

To be honest, I am really not certain what this dream means, if anything. I will tell you what I think, and then you can leave your own comments as well.

While the dream may simply be symbolic of television networks which psychologically manipulate people day after day, and year after year, telling them how to view the world, who to vote for, what to eat, what to wear, where to shop, how to view other leaders and nations, etc., perhaps there is more to it than that.

I was reminded of a number of things as I pondered the dream, and constructed this poem.

I have mentioned before a very interesting movie that I saw a number of years ago called “Surrogates”. I won’t spoil the plot for you in case you haven’t seen it yet, but the film is based on the premise of what our world will be like in the future, based on the current trends in computer technology.

Considering such things as the iPhone, iPad, virtual reality, cloud computing, Google Glass, and similar things, I can’t help but wonder if this dream isn’t meant to serve as a warning of things to come. What if what I saw in the dream is a precursor to the scenario that is suggested in the “Surrogates” movie? A very unsettling thought indeed!

Please let me know what you think of the poem and graphic. I put hours of work into this project.

Thanks.
