While the title of this article may seem strange to some of my readers, and the answer to the question being asked rather obvious, there is a specific reason why I decided to write this current article. While I was reading posts on a certain popular social network, I came upon a post where one person suggested that we should research occultism, freemasonry and the people who run this world in order to better understand how this wicked world operates.

Now, I will honestly admit that over the past thirty-one years as I have authored my hundreds of articles and series for the Bill's Bible Basics website, I have spent many, many hours researching a very large number of different subjects. Nevertheless, despite my own personal practice, for some odd reason, I still find this person's suggestion a bit odd. As I told him, honestly speaking, my thoughts are these: Why waste our precious time doing as he suggested, when we already know that the Bible plainly states that Satan is the false god of this world who spiritually blinds people, and who tempts them with his dainties? Consider the following verses which verify these points:

"In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them."
2 Corinthians 4:4, KJV

"Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world. And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever."
1 John 2:15-17, KJV

"And the devil, taking him up into an high mountain, shewed unto him all the kingdoms of the world in a moment of time. And the devil said unto him, All this power will I give thee, and the glory of them: for that is delivered unto me; and to whomsoever I will I give it."
Luke 4:5-6, KJV

As we all know -- or at least should know -- the controlling elite class of this present world are only pawns of the dark spiritual entities who are mentioned in Ephesians chapter six and elsewhere in the Scriptures, who are bent on doing evil. As a reminder, consider this well-known verse which is found in the Apostle Paul's Epistle to the Ephesians:

"For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places."
Ephesians 6:12, KJV

In my opinion, that is all that we really need to know. We don't really need to understand their secret inner workings. Even if we did know them or could know them -- which is next-to-impossible to discover being as they are quite adept at covering their tracks -- considering how powerful those people are, what could we low-level peons possibly even do about it? Realistically speaking, not much. I am reminded of the following verses:

"And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved."
John 3:19-20, KJV

While following this person's suggestion may be alright for mature Christians who are well established in the faith, it could be a very different story for young Christians who are new to our faith, and who do not yet possess a really strong foundation in the Scriptures. In other words, looking more deeply into these dark matters as he suggests could in fact become a snare for some of them if the things they learn entice or fascinate them. I am reminded of the following verses:

"For when for the time ye ought to be teachers, ye have need that one teach you again which be the first principles of the oracles of God; and are become such as have need of milk, and not of strong meat. For every one that useth milk is unskilful in the word of righteousness: for he is a babe. But strong meat belongeth to them that are of full age, even those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil."
Hebrews 5:12-14, KJV

"And my speech and my preaching was not with enticing words of man's wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power:"
1 Corinthians 2:4, KJV

"Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ."
Colossians 2:8, KJV

But therein lies the problem. You see, when we post stuff online in an open forum, such as on the social networks, we cannot control whether or not only mature Christians see our posts. Well, it is possible to a certain degree if we operate a closed, private group I suppose. However, most people just post away without regard to what kind of people are reading their posts, because everyone wants to be seen by as many people as possible. It is all about exposure, and having our voice heard, right? So there is really no way to shield the younger Christians from heavier meat, or strong meat as the Book of Hebrews refers to it.

But as I was saying, these darker subjects can indeed become a snare for some people. In fact, I have already come across so many online Christians who get trapped by this darker or questionable stuff. Maybe they are simply curious. Or maybe they want to educate themselves so that they can write and speak more intelligently about a certain subject, exactly as I strive to do with my BBB articles.

But the danger occurs when they become overly fascinated by it. The next thing you know, instead of using their social network page as a vehicle to share the Gospel of Salvation, as they had previously been doing, all they are doing now is talking about the latest conspiracy theories and other juicy morsels of information. Some of the popular ones I have seen are the following:

* Did humans really landed on the Moon?

* Did Nostradamus really predict such-and-such?

* Did the coronavirus truly originate in the Wuhan lab in China?

* Flat Earth theory

* Hollow Earth theory

* Is asteroid Apophis going to destroy the Earth?

* Was Princess Diana murdered?

* Was the 2020 election stolen from Donald J. Trump?

* Were alien bodies recovered from a UFO crash site outside of Roswell, New Mexico in 1947?

* Who really killed President John F. Kennedy?

And on and on the list goes.

My friends, let's be honest here, alright? The simple fact of the matter is that knowing the answers or truth regarding any of the aforementioned issues does absolutely nothing in any way to enhance our lives as Christians. Neither does knowing any of that stuff lead a person to the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ. All knowing those kinds of things does is feed our curiosity, increase our hunger for more of the very same thing, and lead us deeper down the rabbit hole of deception and confusion. That is it. I am reminded of something that was written by the Apostle Paul:

"But evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse, deceiving, and being deceived."
2 Timothy 3:13, KJV

Tragically, such people have become so consumed by all of this questionable nonsense to the point that they are now sharing it online with their friends. But it is a double tragedy; because not only are they unwittingly spreading the deception further, but by doing these things, they have in essence likewise hid their Christian light under a bushel, which we are clearly told NOT to do, as we can determine by the following group of verses:

"Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid. Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven."
Matthew 5:14-16, KJV

"No man, when he hath lighted a candle, putteth it in a secret place, neither under a bushel, but on a candlestick, that they which come in may see the light. The light of the body is the eye: therefore when thine eye is single, thy whole body also is full of light; but when thine eye is evil, thy body also is full of darkness. Take heed therefore that the light which is in thee be not darkness. If thy whole body therefore be full of light, having no part dark, the whole shall be full of light, as when the bright shining of a candle doth give thee light."
Luke 11:33-36, KJV

"While ye have light, believe in the light, that ye may be the children of light. These things spake Jesus, and departed, and did hide himself from them."
John 12:36, KJV

"Be ye therefore followers of God, as dear children . . . For ye were sometimes darkness, but now are ye light in the Lord: walk as children of light."
Ephesians 5:1, 8, KJV

So taking into consideration those potential dangers, quite frankly, I think younger Christians are much better off staying away from those dark subjects, and are much better served by investing their time in diligently studying God's true Word, and being a faithful witness to the lost. After all, that is our primary mission as servants of the Lord. I am reminded of the following set of verses:

"Mine eyes prevent the night watches, that I might meditate in thy word."
Psalm 119:148, KJV

"Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth."
2 Timothy 2:15, KJV

"But we will give ourselves continually to prayer, and to the ministry of the word."
Acts 6:4, KJV

"And the brethren immediately sent away Paul and Silas by night unto Berea: who coming thither went into the synagogue of the Jews. These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so."
Acts 17:10-11, KJV

Honestly speaking, I don't think the First Century disciples and Apostles invested their time in doing what this person suggested. They were obviously too busy winning the world for Christ. Furthermore, quite to the contrary, they scoffed at the wisdom of this evil world, admonished First Century Christians to study the Scriptures, and warned them against the philosophies of men, as I already pointed out. Consider these additional verses which are found in the Apostle Paul's first Epistle to the brethren at Corinth:

"Let no man deceive himself. If any man among you seemeth to be wise in this world, let him become a fool, that he may be wise. For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God. For it is written, He taketh the wise in their own craftiness. And again, The Lord knoweth the thoughts of the wise, that they are vain."
1 Corinthians 3:18-20, KJV

Concerning all of that darker or questionable material that some of those foolish people love to get into, consider the following group of verses which clearly advise us to cast off the unfruitful works of darkness. I find it interesting that the Apostle Paul uses the word "unfruitful". As I said above, insofar as our Christian life is concerned, they are in fact meaningless:

"The night is far spent, the day is at hand: let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armour of light."
Romans 13:12, KJV

"Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness?"
2 Corinthians 6:14, KJV

"And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them."
Ephesians 5:11, KJV

If I were to summarize the primary lesson I would like for you to learn from this current article, I suppose it could be best expressed with the following group of verses:

"Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things."
Philippians 4:8, KJV

"Hear; for I will speak of excellent things; and the opening of my lips shall be right things. For my mouth shall speak truth; and wickedness is an abomination to my lips. All the words of my mouth are in righteousness; there is nothing froward or perverse in them."
Proverbs 8:6-8, KJV

"But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ . . . Wherefore putting away lying, speak every man truth with his neighbour: for we are members one of another."
Ephesians 4:15, 25, KJV

"But I say unto you, That every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment. For by thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be condemned."
Matthew 12:36-37, KJV

"For he that will love life, and see good days, let him refrain his tongue from evil, and his lips that they speak no guile:"
1 Peter 3:10, KJV

"And in their mouth was found no guile: for they are without fault before the throne of God."
Revelation 14:5, KJV

"Prove [test, examine] all things; hold fast that which is good."
1 Thessalonians 5:21, KJV

"Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try [test, examine, prove] the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world."
1 John 4:1, KJV
