As I pointed out to one of my online friends recently, the movement or doctrine known as Dominionism is the marriage of modern politics and religion in the United States of America -- and now spreading to other countries around the world -- just as the Scribes and the Pharisees of ancient Israel were also in bed with the government of Roman in order to ensure their survival for a while longer. As history reveals, that relationship of convenience eventually failed, and Jerusalem and Herod's temple were eventually invaded and destroyed in 70 AD by General Titus and his legions in the middle of the First Jewish-Roman War.

More specifically, in the United States, Dominionism is the marriage of the Christian Right with the GOP, or Grand Old Party, meaning the Republicans. Many members of that party -- including former U.S. president Donald Trump -- are very much aligned with Dominionism for the purpose of political gain. Some organizations and movements which have embraced different aspects of Dominion theology include, but are not limited to, MAGA, Turning Point USA, NAR -- New Apostolic Reformation -- Blexit, Trinity Broadcasting Network, etc.

You will hear a variety of names -- such as Charlie Kirk, Candace Owens, Steve Bannon, Paula White, Michael Flynn and politicians such as Mike Johnson, Marjorie Taylor Greene and Lauren Boebert -- being linked with Dominionism to varying degrees. For example, Paula White was in fact Donald Trump's spiritual advisor during his presidency. So these are very powerful people we are talking about who have influence in the top tiers of American government.

Please note that by mentioning their names, I have nothing personal against any of the aforementioned individuals, and I in fact agree with their concerns regarding the very serious spiritual decline of the United States of America. Anyone who has read a fair share of my hundreds of online articles, or who has viewed any of my thousands of graphics, or who has read any of my nine hundred plus poems, knows that as part of my personal evangelical mission, I have spent literally years exposing the deep corruption which pervades American society, including in the federal government, Big Business sector, the entertainment industry, the greedy pharmaceutical industry, the tobacco industry, the American church system, etc.

However, it is very important to note that I do so from the outside looking in, just as the Prophets and Apostles of old did during Biblical times. I strive to remain detached from the world as much as possible while completing my mission, and I do not jump in bed with them or become embroiled in their partisan politics. Quite frankly, I do not trust in politics. As the following Bible verses reveal, it is better to place our trust in the Lord, and NOT in princes. That is to say, NOT in political leaders:

"It is better to trust in the LORD than to put confidence in man. It is‭ better‭ to trust‭‭ in the LORD‭ than to put confidence‭‭ in princes‭.‭"
Psalm 118:8-9, KJV

As some of my readers will know, I do not believe that we can legislate righteousness through laws, voting or through any other mechanism of the political system. Real change -- that is, spiritual change -- must occur on an individual, personal level, and involves a change in mind, heart and spirit, which is effectuated through a deep faith in Jesus Christ, and a respect for, and adherence and obedience to the Word of God, meaning the Bible.

Politics alone cannot bring about such a necessary change. But once the inner spiritual man has changed, and the heart has been regenerated by the Spirit of Christ, perhaps then an outward change in the world around us will eventually occur. However, for this to happen, a majority of people must undergo this spiritual change. Sadly, I do not see this happening at this current time in the United States. Quite to the contrary, liberal America is on her merry way to Hell as she becomes more defiant against God with each passing year. As we read in the Book of Psalms:

"The wicked shall be turned into hell, and all the nations that forget God."
Psalm 9:17, KJV

Now regarding Dominionism, its seven pillars -- or seven mountains -- theology -- which is also referred to as the Seven Mountain Mandate -- is totally contrary to what we find in the Holy Scriptures, which admonish Believers to remain set apart from this present world. A serious study of the New Testament reveals that the pattern of the New Testament Church was NOT to engage politically with the world by seeking political office, or by doing anything else that was associated with the very corrupt political systems of men.

To reiterate, or to say it another way, the First Century Church did NOT promote or support political activism, much less seek to change the world by purposely infiltrating and changing the operations and spheres of human government. That is in fact what the power-hungry Roman Catholic Church would do a few centuries later under emperor Constantine and the emperors and popes who would assume office after him.

In case you were not aware of it, that is where and when the marriage of politics and religion occurred, insofar as our Christian faith is concerned. In fact, as I point out in the article called "Pontifex Maximus: Pagan High Priest to Roman Catholic Pope", it was during the reign of Theodosius I that the Edict of Thessalonica was signed. In addition to making Nicene Christianity the official state religion -- or religio licita -- this edict threatened persecution against anyone who did not embrace the new Catholic religion. In other words, it was a religion of force and violence, and not one of free will.

But as I have already noted, concerning the true Christian Church, its primary mission was simply to stay separate from the world -- precisely as Jesus Himself and the Apostles had both said and taught -- and to preach the Gospel to the lost. That was their mission and goal. They had no interest in the corrupt political affairs of men. You may recall that when Jesus appeared before governor Pontius Pilate, during their conversation, the Lord said the following to the Roman leader:

"Jesus answered, My kingdom is not of this world: if my kingdom were of this world, then would my servants fight, that I should not be delivered to the Jews: but now is my kingdom not from hence."
John 18:36, KJV

Such is most definitely not the case with Dominionism. Quite to the contrary, Dominionists fully embrace politics -- and strongly encourage other Christians to do the same -- seek to engage it, infiltrate it, participate in it, change it, and even rule from within its halls. It is precisely for that reason that Donald Trump was promoted -- and continues to be promoted -- as an anointed leader chosen by God, despite his questionable past, controversial statements, worldliness, etc.

Now, don't get me wrong. In agreement with the Scriptures, I believe that it is God alone who, whether for good or for evil, raises up national leaders in order to fulfill His divine purposes and will. This Scriptural truth is plainly evident in the following group of Bible verses:

"Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God. Whosoever therefore resisteth the power, resisteth the ordinance of God: and they that resist shall receive to themselves damnation. For rulers are not a terror to good works, but to the evil. Wilt thou then not be afraid of the power? do that which is good, and thou shalt have praise of the same: For he is the minister of God to thee for good. But if thou do that which is evil, be afraid; for he beareth not the sword in vain: for he is the minister of God, a revenger to execute wrath upon him that doeth evil. Wherefore ye must needs be subject, not only for wrath, but also for conscience sake."
Romans 13:1-5, KJV

"Lift not up your horn on high: speak not with a stiff neck. For promotion cometh neither from the east, nor from the west, nor from the south. But God is the judge: he putteth down one, and setteth up another."
Psalm 75:5-7, KJV

"Daniel answered and said, Blessed be the name of God for ever and ever: for wisdom and might are his: And he changeth the times and the seasons: he removeth kings, and setteth up kings: he giveth wisdom unto the wise, and knowledge to them that know understanding:"
Daniel 2:20-21, KJV

"This matter is by the decree of the watchers, and the demand by the word of the holy ones: to the intent that the living may know that the most High ruleth in the kingdom of men, and giveth it to whomsoever he will, and setteth up over it the basest of men."
Daniel 4:17, KJV

"I have made the earth, the man and the beast that are upon the ground, by my great power and by my outstretched arm, and have given it unto whom it seemed meet unto me."
Jeremiah 27:5, KJV

"The king's heart is in the hand of the LORD, as the rivers of water: he turneth it whithersoever he will."
Proverbs 21:1, KJV

"For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, and stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry. Because thou hast rejected the word of the LORD, he hath also rejected thee from being king. And Saul said unto Samuel, I have sinned: for I have transgressed the commandment of the LORD, and thy words: because I feared the people, and obeyed their voice. Now therefore, I pray thee, pardon my sin, and turn again with me, that I may worship the LORD. And Samuel said unto Saul, I will not return with thee: for thou hast rejected the word of the LORD, and the LORD hath rejected thee from being king over Israel."
1 Samuel 15:23-26, KJV

"And upon a set day Herod, arrayed in royal apparel, sat upon his throne, and made an oration unto them. And the people gave a shout, saying, It is the voice of a god, and not of a man. And immediately the angel of the Lord smote him, because he gave not God the glory: and he was eaten of worms, and gave up the ghost."
Acts 12:21-23, KJV

Continuing our discussion regarding Dominionism, if you are unfamiliar with the Seven Pillars or Seven Mountains doctrine which is promoted by Dominionism, the gist of it is that Dominionists are convinced that it is their destiny to take control of seven key areas of human society and government in order to effectuate positive change in society. These seven areas are family, religion, education, media, arts and entertainment, business, and government. By so doing, they believe that they will be instrumental in bringing about the End Times -- or Endtime -- and in their view, the eventual return of Jesus Christ.

From what I understand about them -- and my understanding could be flawed -- they believe that Jesus Christ cannot return until they accomplish their stated goals. Personally, I find the whole idea that they can control the timing of the return of Jesus Christ, quite ludicrous. But that is a very complex issue in itself, and a very controversial can of worms which I discuss at length in the seven-part series entitled "Jesus Christ's Return: Have We Been Deceived?", which you can also find on the Bill's Bible Basics website.

Now, if after reading all of the previous paragraphs, you still doubt my word, remain unconvinced, and think that I have somehow misunderstood something in the Bible and got it wrong, then please carefully and prayerfully read the group of Scriptures below for yourself. Do yourself a simple favor by taking off the tinted glasses through which you filter everything you see, read and hear, and allow these verses to really speak to your heart, and to convince you regarding what the Bible actually has to say concerning the proper relationship Christians should have with the world. These are NOT my words. They were spoken by the Lord, or written by the various writers of the New Testament. Please note in particular the words I have placed in uppercase letters:

"No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon."
Matthew 6:24, KJV

"No servant can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon."
Luke 16:13, KJV

"If ye were of the world, the world would love his own: but because YE ARE NOT OF THE WORLD, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you."
John 15:19, KJV

"I have given them thy word; and the world hath hated them, because THEY ARE NOT OF THE WORLD, even as I AM NOT OF THE WORLD. I pray not that thou shouldest take them out of the world, but that thou shouldest keep them from the evil."
John 17:14-15, KJV

"Jesus answered, MY KINGDOM IS NOT OF THIS WORLD: if my kingdom were of this world, then would my servants fight, that I should not be delivered to the Jews: BUT NOW IS MY KINGDOM NOT FROM HENCE."
John 18:36, KJV

"And they that use this world, as not abusing it: for THE FASHION OF THIS WORLD PASSETH AWAY."
1 Corinthians 7:31, KJV

"While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for THE THINGS WHICH ARE SEEN ARE TEMPORAL; BUT THE THINGS WHICH ARE NOT SEEN ARE ETERNAL."
2 Corinthians 4:18, KJV

"WHEREFORE COME OUT FROM AMONG THEM, AND BE YE SEPARATE, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you,"
2 Corinthians 6:17, KJV

"Now therefore ye are no more strangers and foreigners, but FELLOWCITIZENS WITH THE SAINTS, AND OF THE HOUSEHOLD OF GOD;"
Ephesians 2:19, KJV

"That ye may be BLAMELESS AND HARMLESS, the sons of God, WITHOUT REBUKE, in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation, among whom ye shine as lights in the world; Philippians 2:15, KJV
"If ye then be risen with Christ, SEEK THOSE THINGS WHICH ARE ABOVE, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God. SET YOUR AFFECTION ON THINGS ABOVE, NOT ON THINGS ON THE EARTH."
Colossians 3:1-2, KJV

"But godliness with contentment is great gain. FOR WE BROUGHT NOTHING INTO THIS WORLD, AND IT IS CERTAIN WE CAN CARRY NOTHING OUT. And having food and raiment let us be therewith content . . . I give thee charge in the sight of God, who quickeneth all things, and before Christ Jesus, who before Pontius Pilate witnessed a good confession; That thou keep this commandment WITHOUT SPOT, UNREBUKEABLE, until the appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ:"
1 Timothy 6:6-8, 13-14, KJV

"No man that warreth ENTANGLETH HIMSELF WITH THE AFFAIRS OF THIS LIFE; that he may please him who hath chosen him to be a soldier."
2 Timothy 2:4, KJV

"For Demas hath forsaken me, HAVING LOVED THIS PRESENT WORLD, and is departed unto Thessalonica; Crescens to Galatia, Titus unto Dalmatia."
2 Timothy 4:10, KJV

"These all died in faith, not having received the promises, but having seen them afar off, and were persuaded of them, and embraced them, and CONFESSED THAT THEY WERE STRANGERS AND PILGRIMS ON THE EARTH. For they that say such things declare plainly that they seek a country. And truly, if they had been mindful of that country from whence they came out, they might have had opportunity to have returned. But now they desire a better country, that is, an heavenly: wherefore God is not ashamed to be called their God: for he hath prepared for them a city."
Hebrews 11:13-16, KJV

"Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the FRIENDSHIP OF THE WORLD IS ENMITY WITH GOD? WHOSOEVER THEREFORE WILL BE A FRIEND OF THE WORLD IS THE ENEMY OF GOD."
James 4:4, KJV

"Wherefore, beloved, seeing that ye look for such things, be diligent that ye may be found of him in peace, WITHOUT SPOT, AND BLAMELESS."
2 Peter 3:14, KJV

"LOVE NOT THE WORLD, NEITHER THE THINGS THAT ARE IN THE WORLD. IF ANY MAN LOVE THE WORLD, THE LOVE OF THE FATHER IS NOT IN HIM. For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world."
1 John 2:15-16, KJV

And there you have it. Straight from God's Word. Now, please compare what those verses say with the actions and beliefs of the Dominionists. Can you honestly say that they agree with each other? Obviously not. Someone has to be wrong somewhere, and it most certainly is not the Lord or the Apostles. As I explained earlier, it is because of the undeniable truth we find in the previous verses, that I personally do not engage in politics, and try to keep myself as unpolluted from the world as possible, or as the Apostles write, without spot, blameless and harmless, and unrebukeable. How about you? The choice is yours.
