It is not often that I delve seriously into subjects which are more of a speculative or theoretical nature. As my longtime readers will know, as an instructor of God's Word, my primary online objective has always been to concentrate on sharing the truth of the Holy Scriptures. After all, it is that truth alone which brings people to faith in Jesus Christ, and which truly changes people's lives for the better.
Having said that, in this current article, I am going to deviate from my normal modus operandi to discuss a rather controversial and highly speculative idea which has been on my mind in recent weeks. This unorthodox thought revolves around recent comments which have been made by American President, Donald J. Trump. What I am about to say may possibly leave some of you wondering if I have lost it altogether. On the other hand, there may possibly be a few of you who say to yourselves, "Wow! You know, I have been wondering about that very same possibility too!"
In fact, now that I think of it, this particular idea may have begun percolating in the back of my mind quite some time ago, even before President Trump began making some of his recent controversial comments. Perhaps I just did not realize it. However, with Trump's latest comments over the past two months, it finally came to the fore. I'm referring to the fact that ever since the Russian President, Vladimir Putin, and the Chinese President, Xi Jinping, began aligning their respective countries closer together, they have been promoting the idea of a multipolar world, multipolar meaning outside of the powerful influence of the United States of America.
In fact, as you may possibly be aware, this is precisely what BRICS is all about. For those of my readers who may not be familiar with this acronym, it stands for the nations of Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa. Stated very briefly, BRICS is an informal group of emerging economies, the primary goal of which is to increase their influence in global politics. Since its inception over two decades ago, other nations have joined BRICS. As of this current writing -- 03-27-2025 -- these countries include Egypt, Ethiopia, Indonesia, Iran and the United Arab Emirates.
Aside from coordinating economic and diplomatic policies between member nations, one of their chief aims is to reduce dependence on the U.S. dollar. In other words, they want to replace the American dollar as the global reserve currency, which would obviously have profound effects on the American economy.
Of course, this is NOT the first time that I have broached this subject. Some of my longtime readers may recall how in some of my older Bill's Bible Basics articles -- such as "Saddam Hussein's Execution and the Euro-Dollar War" -- I mention the important fact that while it is not well known by many Americans, divorcing the Iraqi economy from the U.S. dollar was in fact one of Saddam Hussein's primary goals.
Well, we all know how that turned out. U.S. President George H. W. Bush invaded that country in 1990-1991 under the false pretext of liberating Kuwait from Iraqi control. That war -- which since that time has been referred to as the Gulf War -- was divided into two phases: Operation Desert Shield and Operation Desert Storm. You see, at the time, while various reasons were given to the American public regarding exactly why Saddam Hussein chose to invade Kuwait, what some people may not know is that Hussein actually viewed Kuwait as a legitimate part of Iraq.
While some people may not agree with Saddam's perspective, historically-speaking, it may surprise you to know that Mr. Hussein was actually correct. During Biblical times, Kuwait was a part of Mesopotamia -- the land between two rivers -- and was known as the land of the Chaldeans, or Chaldees. It occupied the southernmost portion of Babylonia, right up against the Persian Gulf, which we know today as Kuwait.
Regarding the Chaldeans, they were the nobility class -- and apparently the warrior class -- of Babylonia for not quite one hundred years. Ur of the Chaldees was in fact the home of the Patriarch Abraham and his family. Likewise, the three magi -- astronomers or astrologers -- who presented Jesus' parents with expensive gifts, are believed to have come from this very same area. Scripturally-speaking, Babylonian and Chaldean are synonymous terms, and refer to the very same people. Consider the following group of verses as a clear confirmation of these points:
"And Terah lived seventy years, and begat Abram, Nahor, and Haran. Now these are the generations of Terah: Terah begat Abram, Nahor, and Haran; and Haran begat Lot. And Haran died before his father Terah in the land of his nativity, in Ur of the Chaldees . . . And Terah took Abram his son, and Lot the son of Haran his son's son, and Sarai his daughter in law, his son Abram's wife; and they went forth with them from Ur of the Chaldees, to go into the land of Canaan; and they came unto Haran, and dwelt there."
Genesis 11:26-28, 31, KJV
"And he said unto him [Abraham], I am the LORD that brought thee out of Ur of the Chaldees, to give thee this land to inherit it."
Genesis 15:7, KJV
"And he said, Men, brethren, and fathers, hearken; The God of glory appeared unto our father Abraham, when he was in Mesopotamia, before he dwelt in Charran, And said unto him, Get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and come into the land which I shall shew thee. Then came he out of the land of the Chaldaeans, and dwelt in Charran: and from thence, when his father was dead, he removed him into this land, wherein ye now dwell."
Acts 7:2-4, KJV
"And it came to pass in the ninth year of his [Zedekiah's] reign, in the tenth month, in the tenth day of the month, that Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon came, he, and all his host, against Jerusalem, and pitched against it; and they built forts against it round about. And the city was besieged unto the eleventh year of king Zedekiah. And on the ninth day of the fourth month the famine prevailed in the city, and there was no bread for the people of the land. And the city was broken up, and all the men of war fled by night by the way of the gate between two walls, which is by the king's garden: [now the Chaldees were against the city round about:] and the king went the way toward the plain. And the army of the Chaldees pursued after the king, and overtook him in the plains of Jericho: and all his army were scattered from him. So they took the king, and brought him up to the king of Babylon to Riblah; and they gave judgment upon him. And they slew the sons of Zedekiah before his eyes, and put out the eyes of Zedekiah, and bound him with fetters of brass, and carried him to Babylon."
2 Kings 25:1-7, KJV
"Behold the land of the Chaldeans; this people was not, till the Assyrian founded it for them that dwell in the wilderness: they set up the towers thereof, they raised up the palaces thereof; and he brought it to ruin."
Isaiah 23:13, KJV
"Thus saith the LORD, the God of Israel; Like these good figs, so will I acknowledge them that are carried away captive of Judah, whom I have sent out of this place into the land of the Chaldeans for their good."
Jeremiah 24:5, KJV
"And it shall come to pass, when seventy years are accomplished, that I will punish the king of Babylon, and that nation, saith the LORD, for their iniquity, and the land of the Chaldeans, and will make it perpetual desolations."
Jeremiah 25:12, KJV
"The word that the LORD spake against Babylon and against the land of the Chaldeans by Jeremiah the prophet . . . Remove out of the midst of Babylon, and go forth out of the land of the Chaldeans, and be as the he goats before the flocks . . . The LORD hath opened his armoury, and hath brought forth the weapons of his indignation: for this is the work of the Lord GOD of hosts in the land of the Chaldeans . . . Therefore hear ye the counsel of the LORD, that he hath taken against Babylon; and his purposes, that he hath purposed against the land of the Chaldeans: Surely the least of the flock shall draw them out: surely he shall make their habitation desolate with them."
Jeremiah 50:1, 8, 25, 45, KJV
"The word of the LORD came expressly unto Ezekiel the priest, the son of Buzi, in the land of the Chaldeans by the river Chebar; and the hand of the LORD was there upon him."
Ezekiel 1:3, KJV
"My net also will I spread upon him, and he shall be taken in my snare: and I will bring him to Babylon to the land of the Chaldeans; yet shall he not see it, though he shall die there."
Ezekiel 12:13, KJV
Returning to recent history, as some of you may know, once Kuwait had been liberated from Saddam's control, coalition forces, led by the United States, eventually withdrew from southern Iraq. However, hostilities did not end there. As many of you will know, under yet another false pretext of destroying Saddam's WMD -- or Weapons of Mass Destruction, meaning nukes and biological and chemical weapons -- U.S. President George W. Bush -- the son of George H. W. Bush -- invaded Iraq yet again in 2003, resulting in condemnation by the rest of the world. This conflict became known as the Iraq War, or the Second Gulf War.
When all was said and done by 2011, as I point out in the aforementioned series, as well as in "Obama, McCain and the Bush Legacy", Saddam Hussein had been caught and hung -- in 2006 -- and no WMD were ever found in Iraq, thus thoroughly exposing George W. Bush's big lie. In 2014, American forces re-engaged in the nation of Iraq, this time with the stated goal of destroying the Islamic State. Sadly, to this day, in a political, economic and social sense, Iraq remains quite a mess.
It may interest you to know that Saddam Hussein was not the only world leader who desired to liberate his country from its dependence on, and stranglehold by, the American dollar. Iran likewise made an effort to liberate its oil sales and other petrochemical products from the U.S. dollar with the creation of the Iranian Oil Bourse -- also known as the Iran Crude Oil Exchange -- in 2008. While the Iranian Oil Bourse enjoyed limited success with a few nations, it eventually floundered, and by 2020, Iran had abandoned plans to expand it further. In light of these events, it is interesting that Iran is now a part of the BRICS nations.
So the point of my sharing all of this recent history with you is to show you that for about two decades now, there has been a growing, behind-the-scenes effort by certain nations to no longer be dependent on an American dollar-based global economy where the dollar alone serves as the global currency reserve. Of course, the United States views these endeavors as a threat to its global dominance, and to the stability of the American economy and way of life.
Let me remind my readers -- as should now be rather apparent to many of you -- that not all wars are fought with guns, bombs and missiles. Less visible economic wars -- or tariff wars -- can be just as effective in weakening a perceived enemy, and they are occurring all the time. In fact, since I first began writing this article four weeks ago, President Donald J. Trump has been engaged in a major tariffs war with Canada, Mexico, China, Europe and other nations.
President Trump views tariffs as a way to fill up American coffers, make America super rich, and force other nations to pay back everything that America has given to them over the decades. Thus, Trump has in fact imposed tariffs from 10% to 25% and more, and it has now turned into a tit-for-tat war, with each nation trying to outdo the other. In the case of Canada and Mexico, these tariffs were imposed due to their failure to curb illegal drugs coming into America, as well as illegal immigrants.
But as I mentioned earlier in this article, it was certain recent, controversial comments which were made by President Trump, as well as the recent surprise meeting which occurred in Saudi Arabia between representatives of the United States of America and Russia -- without representation by either Ukraine or Europe -- which got me thinking along my current path.
The shocking comments which were made by President Trump not long before the meeting in Saudi Arabia -- which surprised much of the rest of the world -- is that first, he wants the United States to take over the Panama Canal Zone, in order to free the canal from Chinese influence and alleged control. Oddly enough, both China and Panama claim that China does not really control the canal, despite China having terminals at both ends of the canal. At this current time, President Trump has even suggested that the United States may possibly find it necessary to resort to military force in order to take back the PCZ.
Directly related to this issue is the fact that through Executive Order 14172, and to the shock of many, President Trump just recently had the Gulf of Mexico renamed to the Gulf of America. Thus far, Google Maps, Apple Maps, Bing Maps, USA Today, Axios and Fox News are all respecting the name change. There may be others of which I'm not currently aware. However, it is also my understanding that with some of these entities, the name change is only visible to the people of the United States. In other words, the rest of the world is still seeing "Gulf of Mexico" on their maps.
Turning northward, President Trump again shocked the world -- and offended Canadian citizens in the process -- when he publicly declared that he wants to make Canada the 51st U.S. state, even though many people consider it a very bad idea. Why so? Well, because Canada leans to the extreme Left in a political sense. In fact, Canada's new Prime Minister, Mark Carney, is as far Left as former PM Justin Trudeau, who just recently resigned from office. In fact, they both belong to the Liberal Party of Canada, and both are very much against Donald Trump's agenda. Thus, making Canada the 51st American state wouldn't be advantageous to the Republican party, and the interests of US Conservatives. Of course, the Canadians don't want to have anything to do with Mr. Trump's crazy proposal.
Next, shocking the world once again, and even though it is currently an autonomous territory in the Kingdom of Denmark, President Donald Trump resurrected another idea which had occurred to him during his first presidential term. That is, his desire to outright purchase the island of Greenland, due to the island's strategic military importance to the United States, and likewise due to its abundance of mineral wealth.
For the record, geographically speaking, Greenland -- which is both the largest island in the world, and the northernmost point of land in the entire world -- is a part of the North American continent. However, while Greenlanders do desire to have a closer relationship with the United States, they have made it abundantly clear that they are not for sale. Not only that, but nothing can be done without the approval of the Danes. As I said, Greenland is in fact a part of the Kingdom of Denmark, which consists of Greenland, metropolitan Denmark and the Faroe Islands. While Greenland was granted autonomy in 1979, the Danish government still maintains control of its foreign relations, defense, currency matters, and the legal system.
While many people and world leaders at first assumed that Mr. Trump was bluffing, or that he was simply positioning himself for some as-of-yet unknown intention, as it turns out, he is in fact serious regarding achieving all of the aforementioned objectives.
Then, while the rest of the world was still reeling from the previous announcements regarding the Panama Canal Zone, the Gulf of America, making Canada the 51st state and purchasing Greenland, the Trump administration shook up the world even more with the unprecedented meeting between U.S. and Russian representatives in Saudi Arabia, after the USA and Russia had given each other the cold shoulder during the previous four years of the Joe Biden administration.
Incidentally, as we all know -- or at least should know -- it was in fact the Joe Biden administration which foolishly almost brought the world to the brink of WW III by not only providing Ukraine with billions of dollars in financial aid, but also by supplying Ukraine with increasingly far-reaching weapons -- meaning they could reach into Russia -- which it should have never been given in the first place. Stupid Joe!
Then, as I already stated, President Trump recently began to impose new tariffs on Canada, Mexico and China, after giving them a three-week reprieve so that they would have more time to seriously consider his warnings before he actually lowered the economic sword on them. Of course, as I already mentioned, these new tariffs have already resulted in even more economic turmoil, as well as tit-for-tat retribution from the affected nations. Who knows where it will all end.
Lastly, to the shock of both Ukraine and Europe, the United States also recently sided with Russia and voted against two United Nations resolutions which strongly condemned Russia for its 2022 invasion of Ukraine. Of course, the invasion really began in 2014 when Russia first invaded Crimea, which it then annexed. As if that is not enough, President Trump referred to Volodymyr Zelensky -- the leader of Ukraine -- as a dictator, and falsely accused him of starting the war with Russia, while refusing to also recognize Vladimir Putin as a dictator. As you may know, in our politically correct world today, dictators are referred to as autocrats, or even as presidents.
So President Trump is really shaking things up everywhere, and he is offending a lot of people in the process. Trump is shattering former alliances with Europe, and he is apparently creating a new, resurrected alliance with Vladimir Putin of Russia. As I recently mentioned to a close friend, President Trump is like a mad bull in a China shop. He is really going crazy. Has he simply lost it, or is there perhaps some method to his seeming madness?
This is in fact the question I asked myself as I observed all of these unprecedented events. Some people view Donald J. Trump as a very keen strategist who likes to knock his adversaries off-balance before he makes his killer move. He will also say some of the most outlandish things in order to test them, and to gauge their reaction and response. It is like a game of chess to him. Is that possibly what is going on here? Is he really that smart and talented? If so, what is his ultimate goal and endgame?
Well, let me start by stating the following. Despite all of the negative things which some people say regarding Donald Trump, and despite his own personal flaws -- of which we are all aware -- and even despite the way that Trump uses certain naive, gullible people to his own political advantage, I am still of the belief that he is sincere when he states that he wants world peace.
I believe that Trump wants Middle East violence to stop. He wants the unending killing in Ukraine to stop. I would even dare say that he wants to avoid war with China over Taiwan at all cost as well. Basically, President Trump truly wishes for peace to rein everywhere, while at the same time, he likewise wants to improve the situation of the American people first and foremost.
What sane person could not truly desire world peace? We all know where we stand. Let's face it. There are now so many declared and undeclared nuclear states in the world today, and so many dangerous nuclear weapons, with even more lethal weapons being researched and developed all the time, that if WW III ever does break out in earnest, it will be MAD -- or Mutually Assured Destruction. Nobody will survive once the nukes start dropping. There will be no winners, only losers. We will all perish. Truly, we have partaken of the forbidden knowledge.
However, at the same time, believe it or not, but as a few other writers have also recognized, there's also an inherent danger in this desire for global peace. Let me tell you what it is. This is a thought which I have been sharing with some of my friends for quite some time now. Call it a gut feeling if you like, but for months now, I've been telling them that I sense that when all is said and done, the United States -- meaning President Trump -- will betray Ukraine in order to maintain peace with Russia. Furthermore, I believe that the United States, under President Trump's leadership, will betray Taiwan as well in order to maintain peace with China. Trump will sacrifice both of them in order to achieve his goal of peace.
If I would have publicly stated this even six months ago, nobody would have believed me. They would have surely said I was crazy and off my rocker. Yet here we are, witnessing the very thing I warned about for months to a few close friends. Ukraine is in fact being betrayed, and being cut loose, now that President Trump is in power. The bosom buddy Joe Biden relationship with Ukraine is over.
So having laid the previous foundation, now we come to what I really wanted to talk to you about. In other words, my crazy theory, speculation, conjecture, or however you wish to refer to it. To reiterate, I have no proof to validate what I am about to say, other than the various points I have just shared with you. As such, take it with a grain of salt if you wish.
In looking at everything I have just taken time to describe to you, particularly the recent, shocking, first meeting in Saudi Arabia where neither Europe nor Ukraine were present; the US decision to side with Russia with regard to the two UN votes; Trump's vilification of Volodymyr Zelensky; and everything else Trump has said and done since regaining the presidency, it has left me with the sense that something very big may possibly be happening behind the scenes.
If there is one thing President Trump has made publicly known, it is that he admires and respects strong national leaders; even when those leaders are his adversaries, or have committed atrocious acts which have been condemned by the rest of the world. We have but to look at President Trump's developing "broship" with Vladimir Putin to know that this is true.
In fact, I would dare say that Mr. Trump not only admires Vladimir Putin, but perhaps he desires to be just like him. In other words, he wants to be his own self-styled dictator ruling over his own fiefdom with very few limitations. Now if you doubt that this is so, then consider the fact that just recently, U.S. Representative Andy Ogles, a Republican from the state of Tennessee, introduced a resolution that seeks to change the 22nd Amendment of the United States Constitution, so that President Trump can run for a third term.
Of course, there are certain legal scholars who say that it is neither technically nor legally possible for Mr. Trump to achieve such a lofty objective. Furthermore, considering how deeply divided along partisan lines the current session of the U.S. Congress is, the possibility of such an amendment being able to acquire the necessary votes for passage seems rather remote.
Yet at the same time, if we stop to consider how much Trump has had to overcome in order to regain the US presidency -- including four years of vicious attacks from the Democrats, and assassination attempts on his very life -- we just never know what the future may hold. Thus, for now, I will simply say that God remains in control, and He alone raises up and also puts down national leaders, according to His own divine purposes. Let me share those verses with you again:
"Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God. Whosoever therefore resisteth the power, resisteth the ordinance of God: and they that resist shall receive to themselves damnation. For rulers are not a terror to good works, but to the evil. Wilt thou then not be afraid of the power? do that which is good, and thou shalt have praise of the same: For he is the minister of God to thee for good. But if thou do that which is evil, be afraid; for he beareth not the sword in vain: for he is the minister of God, a revenger to execute wrath upon him that doeth evil. Wherefore ye must needs be subject, not only for wrath, but also for conscience sake."
Romans 13:1-5, KJV
"Lift not up your horn on high: speak not with a stiff neck. For promotion cometh neither from the east, nor from the west, nor from the south. But God is the judge: he putteth down one, and setteth up another."
Psalm 75:5-7, KJV
"By me kings reign, and princes decree justice. By me princes rule, and nobles, even all the judges of the earth."
Proverbs 8:15-16, KJV
"Daniel answered and said, Blessed be the name of God for ever and ever: for wisdom and might are his: And he changeth the times and the seasons: he removeth kings, and setteth up kings: he giveth wisdom unto the wise, and knowledge to them that know understanding:"
Daniel 2:20-21, KJV
"This matter is by the decree of the watchers, and the demand by the word of the holy ones: to the intent that the living may know that the most High ruleth in the kingdom of men, and giveth it to whomsoever he will, and setteth up over it the basest of men."
Daniel 4:17, KJV
"I have made the earth, the man and the beast that are upon the ground, by my great power and by my outstretched arm, and have given it unto whom it seemed meet unto me."
Jeremiah 27:5, KJV
"The king's heart is in the hand of the LORD, as the rivers of water: he turneth it whithersoever he will."
Proverbs 21:1, KJV
"For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, and stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry. Because thou hast rejected the word of the LORD, he hath also rejected thee from being king. And Saul said unto Samuel, I have sinned: for I have transgressed the commandment of the LORD, and thy words: because I feared the people, and obeyed their voice. Now therefore, I pray thee, pardon my sin, and turn again with me, that I may worship the LORD. And Samuel said unto Saul, I will not return with thee: for thou hast rejected the word of the LORD, and the LORD hath rejected thee from being king over Israel."
1 Samuel 15:23-26, KJV
"And upon a set day Herod, arrayed in royal apparel, sat upon his throne, and made an oration unto them. And the people gave a shout, saying, It is the voice of a god, and not of a man. And immediately the angel of the Lord smote him, because he gave not God the glory: and he was eaten of worms, and gave up the ghost."
Acts 12:21-23, KJV
