Today while reading online news, I came across an article published in the USA Today magazine called "Trump on Gaza: U.S. ownership, no Palestinian right of return. See updated damage maps." Dated February 10, 2025, the article describes in explicit detail the vast amount of damage and destruction which has been wrought upon the Gaza Strip and its people by the IDF -- Israel Defense Forces -- since the Gaza-Israel War began.
As many of my readers will already know, this incursion by the IDF into the Gaza Strip began following the shocking infiltration of Hamas operatives into southern Israel on October 7, 2023, which led to the death of approximately 1,200 Israelis, according to Israeli sources, along with approximately 250 people being taken hostage by Hamas, of which as of this date -- February 12, 2025 -- dozens have still not been released by Hamas.
As I have mentioned before, my personal view is that what Hamas militants did on that fateful day is downright evil and inexcusable. There is simply no way to justify their violent, despicable actions. They behaved like complete, savage animals, and they should be strongly condemned for what they did. As a God-fearing, Bible-believing Christian, I hate war and all manner of violence. I do NOT support any kind of Palestinian violence and terrorism. However, as I have pointed out before, whether we are discussing the war that is currently in progress, or any other major conflict which has transpired between the Jews and the Palestinians since 1948, in my view, there is plenty of guilt in both camps. No one is without blame.
Personally, contrary to the warlike nature of the world, I strive to live a very peaceful life with everyone around me. After all, is this not what the Bible instructs Christians to do? Consider the following group of verses as proof:
"Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth . . . Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God . . . But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you; That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust."
Matthew 5:5, 9, 44-45, KJV
"If it be possible, as much as lieth in you, live peaceably with all men."
Romans 12:18, KJV
"Finally, brethren, farewell. Be perfect, be of good comfort, be of one mind, LIVE IN PEACE; and the God of love and peace shall be with you."
2 Corinthians 13:11, KJV
"But the meek shall inherit the earth; and shall delight themselves in the abundance of peace."
Psalm 37:11, KJV
"My soul hath long dwelt with him that hateth peace. I am for peace: but when I speak, they are for war."
Psalm 120:6-7, KJV
"From whence come wars and fightings among you? come they not hence, even of your lusts that war in your members? Ye lust, and have not: ye kill, and desire to have, and cannot obtain: ye fight and war, yet ye have not, because ye ask not. Ye ask, and receive not, because ye ask amiss, that ye may consume it upon your lusts."
James 4:1-3, KJV
"Some trust in chariots, and some in horses: but we will remember the name of the LORD our God."
Psalm 20:7, KJV
"And he shall judge among the nations, and shall rebuke many people: and they shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruninghooks: nation shall not lift up sword against nation, neither shall they learn war any more."
Isaiah 2:4, KJV
"And he shall judge among many people, and rebuke strong nations afar off; and they shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruninghooks: nation shall not lift up a sword against nation, neither shall they learn war any more."
Micah 4:3, KJV
"And, behold, one of them which were with Jesus [meaning the Apostle Peter] stretched out his hand, and drew his sword, and struck a servant of the high priest's, and smote off his ear. Then said Jesus unto him, Put up again thy sword into his place: for all they that take the sword shall perish with the sword. Thinkest thou that I cannot now pray to my Father, and he shall presently give me more than twelve legions of angels?"
Matthew 26:51-53, KJV
"And it came to pass, when the time was come that he should be received up, he stedfastly set his face to go to Jerusalem, And sent messengers before his face: and they went, and entered into a village of the Samaritans, to make ready for him. And they did not receive him, because his face was as though he would go to Jerusalem. And when his disciples James and John saw this, they said, Lord, wilt thou that we command fire to come down from heaven, and consume them, even as Elias did? But he turned, and rebuked them, and said, Ye know not what manner of spirit ye are of. For the Son of man is not come to destroy men's lives, but to save them. And they went to another village."
Luke 9:51-56, KJV
"When they which were about him saw what would follow, they said unto him, Lord, shall we smite with the sword? And one of them smote the servant of the high priest, and cut off his right ear. And Jesus answered and said, Suffer ye thus far. And he touched his ear, and healed him."
Luke 22:49-51, KJV
"Then Simon Peter having a sword drew it, and smote the high priest's servant, and cut off his right ear. The servant's name was Malchus. Then said Jesus unto Peter, Put up thy sword into the sheath: the cup which my Father hath given me, shall I not drink it?"
John 18:10-11, KJV
"(For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;)"
2 Corinthians 10:4, KJV
"No man that warreth entangleth himself with the affairs of this life; that he may please him who hath chosen him to be a soldier."
2 Timothy 2:4, KJV
"And the nations were angry, and thy wrath is come, and the time of the dead, that they should be judged, and that thou shouldest give reward unto thy servants the prophets, and to the saints, and them that fear thy name, small and great; and shouldest destroy them which destroy the earth."
Revelation 11:18, KJV
"He that leadeth into captivity shall go into captivity: he that killeth with the sword must be killed with the sword. Here is the patience and the faith of the saints."
Revelation 13:10, KJV
So that is what the Bible has to say concerning peacemakers and warmongers, and how Christians are supposed to strive to live in peace with everyone. However, tragically, there is another side to the Hamas-Israel War story which many people -- particularly pro-Israel American Christians -- simply do not want to hear, or much less accept. That is the fact that the nation of Israel has a very long history and record -- which goes back decades -- of disproportionately retaliating against the Palestinians when they have resisted and fought against Israel through protests, suicide bombs and other forms of attack.
Now before anyone points the finger at me in haste, please note that I am by no means saying that Israel does not have the right to defend itself against all of its enemies, both interior, as well as exterior. Of course it does, just like any other country on the Earth. However, there is a point where enough is enough, and through its actions, Israel has repeatedly gone beyond that point. Again, this is a clear historical fact.
I fully understand Israel's desire to wipe Hamas from the face of the Earth. However, I also believe that there is a point where a line is crossed when any form of retaliation results in the extreme suffering and unjustified death of non-combatant civilians, and the total destruction of their country or land, and their livelihoods. I am convinced that with the Hamas-Israel War, Israel has crossed that line.
As I was reading the USA Today article, I was both shocked and appalled by the things I was reading, because what the article basically describes is very much a "scorched earth" war strategy being embraced by Israel. According to various online sources, somewhere between 47,000 and 60,000 Gazans have been killed since Israel began its onslaught against Hamas and the Gaza Strip. Do you honestly believe that they were all Hamas operatives? Please don't deceive yourself. Many thousands of them were in fact women and children.
Besides the actual number of war casualties, both injured and killed, the article likewise mentions the fact that 90% of the Palestinians have been displaced from their homes in the Gaza Strip. However, please note that for many of them, being pushed out of their homes did not happen just a single time. Rather, it happened to them multiple times as the IDF pushed them further and further south in the Gaza Strip, so that many of them ended up in Khan Yunis at the southernmost end of the Gaza Strip. Meanwhile, Israel carried out its scorched earth war campaign behind them.
In Gaza City -- which is the capital of the Gaza Strip -- the aforementioned article states that about 74.2% of the buildings have been damaged or else totally destroyed. One analyst notes that roughly 77% to 81% of tree crops in the Gaza Strip have probably been damaged. Furthermore, 65% of greenhouses have likely been damaged as well. According to the same USA Today article, the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization reports that more than 95% of the cattle, and nearly half of the sheep in the Gaza Strip, have died since the war began.
My friends, between the number of Palestinians killed, and the rest of the aforementioned damage, that is a very major amount of destruction which has been wrought against the people of the Gaza Strip by the Israel Defense Forces. In fact, it is now being estimated that it will take two whole decades, if not longer, to rebuild the Gaza Strip. Such is the horrible fruit of war. Such are the horrors of extreme Israeli retaliation.
Let me say that it is a horrible thing to have to compare deaths with deaths. It is extremely distasteful for me to even consider doing it. However, in this particular case I feel that it is both appropriate and warranted to do so. Quite frankly, when we compare approximately 1,200 Israeli deaths to 47,000-60,000 Palestinian deaths, and then add in all of the aforementioned destruction, for me personally, there is simply no way to justify the level of Israel's retaliation against Hamas and the Palestinians of the Gaza Strip. There is just no way. I don't care what anyone else thinks or says.
Yes, I already know that the diehard war hawks, as well as the one-track-mind, pro-Israel folks will strongly disagree with my assessment. In fact, one such person already pushed against my opinion online, and tried to justify what Israel has done in the Gaza Strip. Sadly, nothing I said to him could convince him otherwise. Honestly speaking, it just really boggled my mind that he could be that hard-hearted.
However, speaking directly to my online friends, if you are a God-fearing, Bible-believing Christian as I am, and if you truly disagree with my assessment, well then all I can say is shame on you! Are you really that so blinded by all of the Jewish propaganda that you are unwilling and unable to see the truth? Are you so deceived and hardened of heart that you cannot see how very wrong this whole situation is? Is your support of Israel greater than your support of, and belief in, what the Scriptures have to say regarding what the Christian attitude should be towards war and violence?
While I was really shocked by what I was reading, nothing could have prepared me for the recent, large photograph of Gaza City which was attached to the USA Today article. They say that a picture paints a thousand words. In this case, I would have to agree. Even if I hadn't said a single word in this commentary, and only shared this photograph with you, I would hope that it would be enough to really convince you what a terrible and unjustified tragedy has been inflicted upon the people of the Gaza Strip. Look at the photograph and decide for yourself. How would you personally feel if that happened to your nation's capital or to your home town?
And by the way, in case you are wondering, yes, I know that about 98% of the people living in the Gaza Strip are Muslims and not Christians. However, even though I am very strongly opposed to the Islamic religion, and believe that they are terribly deceived by their faith, nevertheless, the Gazans are still people. As such, I simply do not believe that they deserved to have such total destruction wrought upon their capital city, upon the rest of their land, or upon their personal lives.
After all, contrary to the negative picture that is so often painted of them in the news, we need to remember that not all Palestinians are terrorists and supporters of Hamas. Neither are they all blood-thirsty combatants and killers. Most of them simply want to live in peace like the rest of us, and provide a decent home for their children. It is politicians and the warmongers who want us to only see one side of their culture, because doing so is advantageous to their political agenda.
Continuing our discussion, and moving on to a related topic, I imagine that many of my readers have heard about President Donald Trump's shocking proposal for the USA to both own and manage the Gaza Strip once the war there has ended. It does not require being a prophet to know where this is probably headed. It is not difficult to imagine Mr. Trump's vision -- delusional or not -- of slowly transforming the Gaza Strip into Trump Strip with a long row of luxury hotels, private beaches, etc., for the elite, possibly even surpassing Tel Aviv. In fact, to the shock of many world leaders, Mr. Trump has referred to his development plans as turning the Gaza Strip into the "Riviera of the Middle East".
As a longtime businessman, if there is one thing that we all know -- or should know -- regarding Donald Trump, it is that he views everything through the lens of money and profit. He believes that everything, and everyone, can be bought if he throws enough money at them. Now if you doubt that this is so, consider President Trump's recent and equally shocking comments regarding taking control of the Panama Canal, and purchasing the island of Greenland, regardless of what each of those two parties thinks. As some of you will no doubt recall, during his first term in office, Mr. Trump tried a very similar tactic with North Korea's Kim Jong Un when he promised to turn North Korea into a modern, wealthy nation if Kim would just give up his nukes. We all know how that turned out. Kim is still building his nukes.
While President Trump has tried to paint his entrepreneurial vision for the Gaza Strip as a humanitarian endeavor which will benefit everyone in the long run -- including the Gazans who he claims will end up with beautiful homes, even if it's located outside of the Gaza Strip and in a foreign country -- tragically, as can be testified by peoples in other lands -- such as the native Hawaiians, native Guamanians/Chamorros, etc. -- when Big Business -- American or otherwise -- moves in, the locals rarely really profit from the new development, except for some low-wage jobs. The big money is only made by the actual owners and investors in those land development projects. This is a simple fact of life, and the way of the world.
Furthermore, as tragic as it may be, the local population is often driven out of their own land, or pressured out through cheap buy-outs. For those local people who choose to remain despite it all, their culture, and the local environment, is likewise slowly destroyed. But that is not all. The cost of living soars as their land is transformed into a destination for the elite where the locals can barely even survive. It is in fact happening right now where I personally live. It is difficult to survive here without government assistance.
As I said, the local Gazans -- who are descended from the ancient Philistines (think Goliath of Gath) who occupied Philistia before Abraham and his descendants arrived -- will be expatriated, even if they don't want to be. Mr. Trump has stated this very plainly. He wants to expatriate two million plus Palestinians with no right to return to the Gaza Strip, even though the Palestinians themselves, other Arab nations, and even some non-Arab nations are clearly shocked by Trump's intentions, and are strongly opposed to his plans. As proof of what I am saying, consider that in a recent interview with Fox News' Bret Baier, the online edition of The Washington Times newspaper reported the following conversation:
----- Begin Quote -----
President Trump said that Palestinians would not have an automatic right to return to Gaza, sparking new confusion over his redevelopment plans for the war-torn strip between Egypt and Israel.
Mr. Trump shocked the world by suggesting in recent days he would take control of Gaza once the fighting between Israeli forces and Palestinian militants in Hamas is over.
The president has said Palestinians would be expected to vacate to nearby Arab countries, raising questions about whether they would be ejected forcibly.
"We'll build safe communities a little bit away from where they are, from where all this danger is," Mr. Trump said in a clip that previewed an interview with Fox News host Bret Baier that will air in full later Monday. "In the meantime, I would own this. Think of it as a real estate development for the future. It would be a beautiful piece of land, no big money spent."
"Would the Palestinians have the right to return?" Mr. Baier said.
"No, they wouldn't, because they're going to have much better housing," Mr. Trump said.
----- End Quote -----
But the obvious big question is this: Who really wants the Palestinians? This conflict between the Israelis and the Palestinians has raged for many decades now. Do you see any nearby Arab countries jumping to provide them with a decent home, should Trump actually succeed in having them removed from the Gaza Strip, despite world opinion being against it? The sad fact of the matter is that other Arab countries use the Palestinian cause when doing so is to their political advantage. Otherwise, they don't want to have anything to do with them.
For its part, Jordan has already taken plenty of Palestinians over the decades. However, my understanding is that just as has occurred with the Palestinians living in Israel, they are treated like second class citizens in Jordan as well. Let me likewise mention that King Hussein of Jordan -- who is also known as King Abdullah II -- has been quite clear regarding not wanting to take in any more Palestinians. Egypt embraces a very similar position. President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi also rejects taking in any more Palestinians. Thus, contrary to Mr. Trump's claim that some of the Gazans can be moved to Jordan and Egypt is a no-go from the start. He is dreaming.
However, if the great deal-maker Trump still somehow manages to pull off his grand scheme, and all two million Gazans are transferred to some other countries, I suspect that once they have been dispersed and assimilated elsewhere -- whether they like it or not -- the world will be made to eventually forget them. They will be swept under the carpet as just more dirty, embarrassing laundry that nobody wants to talk about anymore.
But let me ask you something. What comes after they have been removed from the Gaza Strip? Well, in my view, we really have to look no further than the West Bank. Do you honestly think that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is done there yet? Don't kid yourself. He has already sliced and diced the West Bank into so many non-contiguous sections, that it has now become virtually impossible to ever create a Palestinian state there. It will be interesting to see what he does next once Hamas is totally destroyed, assuming that is what really happens. Some people still claim that Hamas is too deeply entrenched in the Gaza Strip to be utterly destroyed. They are a resilient lot. That's for sure.
This leads us right into our next and final subject in this current article. It concerns President Trump and Benjamin Netanyahu, and it's a rather controversial topic. My friends, for the past several days, ever since Benjamin Netanyahu was in Washington, DC, when President Trump announced his rather shocking intentions regarding the USA buying and owning the Gaza Strip and then developing it, I have had this strong sense that Trump and Netanyahu may have made a back room deal. This is all my personal conjecture, and is not based on any solid facts, so please take it with a grain of salt.
What could such a theoretical deal possibly entail? First of all, Mr. Trump has made it clear that American troops will NOT be sent to or used in the Gaza Strip in order to realize his intentions for the Strip. That being the case, and if we assume that he is not lying, what does that actually mean? Well, consider the following quote I recently read in The Washington Times. In my view, it pretty much lays bare the deal which I suspect Trump and Netanyahu may have struck behind closed doors:
----- Begin Quote -----
"As far as I'm concerned if all of the hostages aren't returned by Saturday at 12 o'clock -- I think it's an appropriate time -- I would say, cancel it and all bets are off and let hell break out," Mr. Trump said. "I'd say they ought to be returned by 12 o'clock on Saturday. And if they're not returned -- all of them, not in drips and drabs, not two and one and three and four and two -- by Saturday at 12 o'clock. And after that, I would say, all hell is going to break out."
Mr. Trump added that he was speaking for himself and that Israel can override his decision. He later doubled down on his warning.
"Saturday at 12 o'clock, and after that, it's going to be a different ballgame," he said.
Asked what he meant when he said "all hell will break out," Mr. Trump declined to offer further details.
"You'll find out, and they'll find out too. Hamas will find out what I mean," he said.
----- End Quote -----
While I could obviously be mistaken regarding this, with the above words, I strongly suspect that Mr. Trump was sending a clear message to both Hamas, and to Netanyahu, and letting Netanyahu know that the deal is on. So what deal do I think was struck? Basically the following. Please note again that I am paraphrasing here based on my personal conjecture:
----- Begin Fictitious Conversation -----
"Bibi, you finish cleaning up the Gaza Strip. Do whatever it takes. Just destroy what little infrastructure is still left standing there so that the Palestinians won't want to return there. Wipe out the remainder of Hamas. Then sell the Gaza Strip to the USA and we will develop it. It is a win-win for both of us. Your Hamas-Gaza problem is resolved once and for all, and we both get rich in the process by converting Gaza into a top-tier tourist destination with luxury hotels. The Miami Beach or Riviera of the Middle East."
----- End Fictitious Conversation -----
Going by Mr. Trump's recent remarks, I suspect that he was heavily moved by the physical appearance of the three most recently released hostages. He said that they were rather gaunt and emaciated, and that they reminded him of how the survivors of the Holocaust looked after being starved to death by the Nazis. So my personal impression is that with his latest remarks, Mr. Trump has not only set a deadline for Hamas to release all of the remaining hostages -- that being Saturday at noon on February 15, 2025, which is only three days from now -- but he has also given Netanyahu the green light to break the current fragile truce with Hamas, and to go in and finish the war he started in the Gaza Strip.
In short, I think President Trump is telling Bibi Netanyahu, "Do whatever you have to do, even if the rest of the world condemns you, and the USA will turn a blind eye to it. We will even give you whatever weapons you need to finish the job once and for all." As I said, I could be totally wrong regarding this, so you do not have to agree with me if you don't want to. However, from everything Trump has said to associates, to reporters and to the public, those are the indications I am personally getting. It all seems pretty clear to me. What do YOU think?
IMPORTANT UPDATE: Barely one hour after I had completed this article and published it on the Bill's Bible Basics website, I received the very latest news regarding President Trump's Saturday deadline to Hamas, and the hostage situation. And guess what? To my surprise, this latest news seems to clearly confirm everything that I stated in the previous paragraphs.
So what am I talking about? As it turns out, just a few hours ago, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu convened his security cabinet, after Hamas announced that it would delay the release of the next three hostages, which was supposed to occur this coming Saturday, which is the same day as Trump's deadline. And guess what Netanyahu and his security cabinet decided? Following are some direct quotes from The Washington Times:
----- Begin Quotes -----
"The decision I passed in the Cabinet unanimously is this: If Hamas does not return our hostages by Saturday noon, the ceasefire will end, and the IDF will resume intense combat until Hamas is decisively defeated."
"In light of Hamas' announcement of its decision to violate the agreement and not release our hostages, I instructed the IDF last night to amass forces inside and around the Gaza Strip. This operation is currently underway and will be completed as soon as possible."
"We also welcomed the President's revolutionary vision for the future of Gaza."
----- End Quotes -----
Please note that Prime Minister Netanyahu is NOT just talking about the three hostages which were already scheduled to be released this coming Saturday. He is talking about ALL of the hostages which are believed to still be held by Hamas, and which are believed to number around seventy-three. President Trump is convinced that some of the remaining hostages are already dead. Time will tell whether or not Trump is correct.
In other words, as I conjectured a few hours ago before I had received this latest news, President Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu are indeed on the very same page, and working from the same play book. As I told you a few minutes ago, Mr. Trump said "If all of the hostages aren't returned by Saturday at 12 o'clock . . . I would say, cancel it and all bets are off and let hell break out."
Not only that, but within hours of each other, while Bibi Netanyahu was saying in Israel that the ceasefire would end on Saturday if not all of the hostages were released, in Washington, DC, Trump was saying the following according to another The Washington Times news article:
----- Begin Quotes -----
"I have a Saturday deadline and I don't think they are going to make a deadline."
"Personally, I think they want to play tough guy, but we'll see how tough they are."
"I think the reason Hamas is playing so cute is because they probably saw the reaction to these people that came out. I think they want time because the [hostages] are in such bad shape because they're sending the most healthy people out, because they don't want to send the least healthy people out."
"They either have them out by Saturday at 12 o'clock or all bets are off."
----- End Quotes -----
So, again, to me personally, this confirms my theory that while Netanyahu was in Washington, DC, he and Trump made a back room deal which is currently playing out before our very eyes, and before the eyes of the whole world. In short, unless Hamas yields, and all of the remaining hostages are released as demanded by Trump and Netanyahu in three days, the ceasefire will end, and the IDF will go back into Gaza and pound Hamas until they are totally wiped out. Then, as a part of the deal, Trump and his people will rebuild the Gaza Strip, and convert it into a major Middle Eastern tourist attraction. Or as Mr. Trump likes to call it, the Riviera of the Middle East. And both leaders will enrich themselves from it.
In conclusion, these are my personal thoughts regarding the current war in the Gaza Strip, and how I view some of Mr. Trump's recent shocking pronouncements. To reiterate, in my view, despite the great suffering that is now occurring in the Gaza Strip, in Trump's mind, this is primarily another investment opportunity for him and nothing more. It's a way to cash in and make lots of money. It is a land grab, no matter how he tries to paint it. The fact that he cannot even see how wrong it is to forcefully remove two million plus people from their homes and land exposes how callous he is.
Of course, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is not without guilt either. It's quite evident that he is very happy with Trump's outrageous proposal. After all, anything to resolve the Gaza Strip issue once and for all will obviously be to Bibi's advantage. Thus, they are partners in crime, in my view. You are free to disagree with me if you like, but I will not argue the issue with anyone, particularly if you have been brainwashed by Zionist propaganda, and refuse to see Scriptural truth regarding the true nature of the Jews.
With these thoughts, I will bring this article to a close. It is my hope that you've found it informative and enlightening, and I pray that it has been a blessing in your life as well.
